The sea of AK Starfish in Sadie Cove, Homer, in the summer of 2003 served as the inspiration for Marci's first creation, the starfish. After taking pictures of the starfish at a particularly low tide, Marci imagined a crisp, stippled design that would capture the natural animal, celebrate its beauty and resilience, and reflect those same attributes in the wearer. Alaskans are proud to claim the hand-drawn image as their own, and people throughout the Lower 48 and beyond are proud to embrace it. Following her return, AK Starfish started her seventeen fruitful years as an English instructor at Dimond High School.
