Bayport Flower House is located at 940 Bayport Montauk Road. It is a long tradition on the South Bank and has served these communities since 1932. Bayport Flower House began as a wholesale carnation grower and sold to the New York market under the management of Maria and Paul Ovette. In the 1930s, when the carnation crop was harvested, many stems would break. The wholesale market only requires long-stalk carnations, so short-stalk carnations are placed in barrels and placed outside the packaging shed for people passing by the cemetery. Today, 88 years later, the Bepot Flower House is still managed by the Ovitel family. The grandsons of Maria and Paul, Karl Ovitel and Kristin Saroca, led a dedicated team of gardeners and flower designers to provide beautiful flowers and plants to the local community.
