Caravan Beads was begun on the sun porch of Barry and Jean's house, in June of 1991. For their neighbors Joe and Carolyn, they created a tiny 'store' that was only run on Saturdays and had an inventory that suit inside a couple of suitcases. Jean and Carolyn had fallen in love with producing beaded jewelry and there were no next to the bead stores to shop at. As wonderful local support and loyal customers, Caravan Beads grew and in the summer of 1994 they showed their mail-order department and started to train customers how to open new bead stores about the country. Their web site went live in June of 1995, and one month later they got their first ever shipment from Miyuki Co., Ltd.
