Dallas Contemporary's mission is to show the public the art of their time: by holding exhibitions, publications and learning courses for visitors of different ages in turn, documenting new directions in art. As a contemporary art institution dealing with timely and complex issues in one of the fastest-growing metropolises, they firmly believe that the thoughts and voices of artists can record and change society. Dallas Contemporary was established in 1978. It initially held annual membership exhibitions and provided rental exhibition space for emerging artists on Swiss Boulevard. The museum later expanded its mission to include exhibitions by non-member artists from Texas. Today, the agency's program focuses on displaying new and recognized multidisciplinary works by emerging and established local and international artists, as well as commissioning specific works on site.
