Found Image's vision was to share Barry's collection of regional postcards, as well as other curious, elegant, quirky and sometimes kitsch images collected. The images are derived from vintage postcards, pamphlets, decals, labels, and other ephemeral paper works that pass through Barry's artistic standards of beauty and history. Most of the photographs were taken between the 1890s and 1870s. Over the years, the collection has grown from a few hundred to more than 60, 000, covering a wide variety of categories. The sheer volume of images meant Found Image could not use traditional inventory methods, so founders Barry and Cate understood the evolving printing technology and quickly adopted a print-on-demand business model.
