In 1992, artist Sue Weaver and her husband Dale, along with Jerry and Rosemary Zepnick, opened Lantern Dancer. An old kerosene lantern that caught fire while camping gave rise to the store's name. Dale ran out of the tent with the lantern to put out the fire. He was known because of his naked dance around extinguishing the flames. Lantern Dancer was owned by Doris Green until her sale in 2021. Since she bought the shop, she has focused on providing high-quality goods, such as one-of-a-kind Native American and contemporary Southwestern jewelry and local fine arts and crafts. After a memorable lunch, Doris approached Christine Jones, the current owner, in 2021, and she now oversees the day-to-day operations of them with her knowledgeable staff.
