Charles London, a self-taught young watchmaker, has immigrated from Europe to Glen Bay in New York alone. Charles sold his watch repair service door to door on the Long Island Gold Coast, earning enough money for his wife and three children to travel to the United States with him. Charles London opened his own shop on School Street in Glen Bay to sell and repair clocks. In the booming 1920s, as fashion changed, he turned his store into a jewelry store. London Jewelers was born.
