In 1896, William J. Battle founded University Co-op, a Greek professor who later served as the University of Texas at Austin from 1914 to 1916. Principal. The original store opened on campus - it's located in - with books, stationery and sporting goods, designed to sell its products to students at the lowest possible price. Twenty-two years later, the co-op moved out of the campus and moved to a one-story building in Guadalupe, opposite the Student Activity Center. It was not until 1977 that the store remained a partnership and later became a 501(c)(3) non-profit education company owned by students, teachers and staff at the University of Texas at Austin. University Co-op maintains its original ideas and missions through different locations and to meet the changing needs of students and teachers.
