Wicks Forge appeared a few years later. They were the offspring of an artist and a carpenter as they grew up. They enjoyed using their hands to make useful objects and works of art, but they were never taught how to work metal. They recall touring their grandfather's house. From the turn of the century, The Wicks have worked in the metal industry. Wicks Forge great-great-grandfather was a pioneer in the welding industry, and their great-great-grandfather worked on the Statue of Liberty. During World War II, they and their grandfather established a welding shop that ultimately became a welding school where they taught welders to aid in the war effort. After the War, the family relocated to Connecticut where they continued their work in the metal industry by operating Wicks Products, a manufacturing business.
