Woodchester Valley Vineyard's winery was established in 2016, and 2016 was their first year of wine production on site. They plant a variety of grape varieties distributed in three vineyards. The soil profiles of these three locations are different but they are mainly limestone. Their Woodchester and Amberley sites are typical Cotswold brown earth-shallow soils, with oolitic limestone covered with high rock content, which is particularly suitable for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. These soils are very easy to drain. The site of the stone house in Woodchester Valley Vineyard has a higher clay content and a deeper soil which is very suitable for their Bacchus grapes. In all locations, their vines are planted on slopes. These slopes are very gentle but not steep enough, facing south, east, and southwest.
